Abstract :
In this paper, we present an DS UWB wireless medical system with transmission power assignment mechanism. An essential feature of this system is that higher power is allocated to the medical information that requires higher quality of service. To achieve the purpose of maximum resource utilization, or minimum total transmission power, we also incorporate a orthogonal variable spreading factor codes (OVSF) strategy, and unequal error protection mechanism into the proposed power control scheme. Specifically, we employ high power, high level error protection mechanism, and the long OVSF code for medical messages that dictate stringent bit error rate (BER). In contrast, low power, low level error protection mechanism, and short OVSF code are granted to messages that can tolerate high BER. For a practical wireless communication scenario, a simulation has been carried out to verify proper functioning of the proposed scheme.
