  • Abstract
This paper discussed the utilization of TEV-Transient Earth Voltage method in PD detection of GIS. The typical defect models in GIS concluding spikes fixed on HV conductor, voids defect in dielectric, suspended metals had been detected by TEV method, PMT, Rogowski monitor and PDCheck system synchronously. The TEV results showed good consistency with other three methods and had a good sensitivity. Based on this, phase distribution of PD, pulse number of different voltage level thresholds and the signal PD pulse characteristic had been obtained in this paper. In addition, the PD of needle-plane with very short gap had been detected under high frequency oscillating impulse voltage using this method.
