Abstract :
We propose a novel stereoscopic video coding method to compress stereoscopic video based on residual-downsampling for 3D video service over T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting). Main idea of residual-downsampling algorithm is to reduce the resolution of residual data that consist of the differential values between original input image and predicted image and to code the downsampled residual data. Experimental results show the proposed method outperforms both TS (temporal scalability) based coding and Simulcast.
