Abstract :
The market for cloud-based mobile application is growing rapidly, according to recent industry research. Healthcare services are positively affected by the new technologies and availability of many e-health applications. Diagnostic medical imaging is one area where emerging systems are being developed to leverage the mobile-cloud infrastructure to increase the accessibility and lower the cost of these critical services. A framework was developed for mobile medical imaging devices and applications to securely communicate with a cloud-based image storage and management service using standard DICOM protocol. Prototype of a mobile ultrasound application running a tablet PC with a USB transducer is also developed to validate and evaluate the design.
