Abstract :
This paper focuses on the construction of M-PSK block modulation codes for the Rayleigh fading channel. We present some new codes constructed by two different methods. The first method, an exhaustive computer search, is appropriate for short block lengths. Some optimum codes are found. The second method is for multilevel block codes. In this case we use the cutoff rate performance criterion for multistage decoding. Simulation results are presented. From them we conclude that the second method can propose codes which achieve improvement over known codes for low and moderate SNRs
