Memory Management Circuit for The Next Generation Optical Drives

This paper presents a memory management circuit, we call memory manager, implemented in a single chip controller used for all the media of Blu-ray, DVD and CD. The memory manager has a hierarchy structure to realize memory mapping and bus control for each media, and also has bus occupation time control function to realize the operation at the maximum speed for Blu-ray. We have confirmed the expected performance by the simulation and evaluation on the actual drive system.
