Abstract :
A formalism, Software Project Management Net (SPMNet), is proposed to model the development of a software project. SPMNet provides a formal modeling technique to capture the concurrent and iterative nature of software development. A tracking mechanism in the SPMNet is used to keep track of all the events through the software development life cycle. Based on the previous-event information, the manager can make queries on the development history. In our approach, an automatic technique based on genetic algorithms is introduced to determine the optimal resource allocation and calculate the total time and cost of a project. Based on the information generated from genetic algorithms, the software manager will be able to predict the future states of a project by pre-executing the SPMNet
