Abstract
This paper presents a locating method for multiple partial discharge (PD) sources based on the maximum a posteriori estimation. The feature of this method lies in monitoring an entire substation. The sensors installed in the monitoring area such as the substation receive PD signals and estimate the direction of arrival angles. Then integrating all the estimated angles provides source positions. The capability of the proposed system was confirmed by numerical simulations. The results include the comparison of performance for the number of sensors.
