Abstract :
Modifications to the model reference adaptive (MRA) pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique that result in performance characteristics similar to those of currently used PWM pattern generators for voltage source inverters are discussed. The resulting switching pattern exhibits two useful features not found in other PWM techniques: an intrinsically constant volts/Hertz ratio and a constant inverter switching frequency. Other features include optimization of the voltage gain, improvements in reference tracking, and reduction in the number of commutations per cycle of the switches. Design guidelines and simulation and experimental results are presented.<>
