Abstract
A continental acquisition of high data rates can only be realized by installation of the wide area networks of ground receiving stations with the capacity to record the data stream in real time during the data reception. The technical characteristics of the data stream led to the development of specialized storage and archiving models for the recording and preservation of remotely sensed data. In order to reduce costs while increasing coverage, the ground station should be able to support multiple heterogeneous missions and that causes more complexity of controlling the system. This article presents the results of a scientific research on development of an integrated control and management system on a network of ground stations in which core capabilities of an standard ground station are captured into an informal reference model and then its hardware and software interfaces were virtualized based on that. For this purpose, we build a command and control protocol based on an XML framework to reduce the complexity in ground stations and increase multi-mission support of ground station installations.
