Abstract :
In this paper, an ultra-wideband antenna with dual band-notched characteristic is designed. The antenna is based on the rectangle planar monopole antenna. By modifying the radiation patch to octagon and insetting a concave in the ground, the antenna has a good impedance match over a broad frequency range. With two T-shaped slots being cut from the octagonal patch, the dual band-notched characteristic is achieved. The measured and simulated results showed that the antenna has a good performance with VSWR<;2 in the band range from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz except the bandwidths around 3.5GHz and 5.8GHz. Furthermore, the novel antenna presents a good radiation pattern. Thus, it´s suitable for short distance wireless communication inside.
