  • Abstract
In this paper, a multi-band mobile antenna in specific for mobile terminal is come forward to support multiple communication systems. The antenna proposed herein is configured primarily by a notched planar inverted-F (PIFA) structure, an L-shaped parasitic branch element, and an inverted-L strip that is seen independently mounted on ground plane. The antenna is able to reduce antenna size by 38% compared to the traditional PIFA antenna, while the performance is good to support frequency bands covering the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) which stipulate spectrum from 1920MHz to 2170MHz, the Bluetooth and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) which specify spectrum from 2400MHz to 2460MHz, and the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) which allocate band from 5725MHz to 5850MHz in use. The far-fields of the antenna over all band of interest are verified, appearing the feature of omni-directional patterns.
