Abstract
How an adaptive beam forming algorithm can be applied to a rectangular smart antenna in a CDMA basestation is shown. Expressions for performance indicators such as output SINR and BER are derived. It is shown that interferer distribution and array configuration affect the performance of rectangular smart antennas. The performance is maximized under uniform interferer distribution.
