Abstract :
A probe feeding microstrip antenna is presented to obtain broadband circularly polarized (CP) characteristics using stacked circular patches with perturbation segments. The proposed antenna radiates left-hand circularly polarized (LHCP) electromagnetic wave at the frequency band of thuraya satellite communication of 1525~1559 MHz & 1626.5~1660.5 MHz. With the optimized design, an about 10% relative bandwidth is achieved for axis ratio (AR) less than 3dB and VSWR less than 1.5, which totally covers the thuraya satellite communication frequency band.
