Abstract :
A novel wideband aperture-coupled patch antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna has a cavity of dielectric backed configuration, which can avoid the back radiation of the aperture and suppress the excitation and propagation of a parallel plate mode between the up and below ground plane. The antenna is fed by an inhomogeneous stripline, which is convenient for the vertical connection between the feed-line and the coax probe. The cavity with reasonable size contributes to excite the mutual resonance between the aperture and patch, which afford a broadband solution. The simulated results show the 10dB-bandwidth exceeds 40%, and the cross-polarization of E plane and H plane are all lower than -40dB. Furthermore, the antenna has a simple configuration, and is benefit for being integrated with other RF and control devices through via holes.
