Abstract :
Based on Nokia´s IPDC, this paper puts forward two batching approaches to realize on-demand mobile TV with DVB-H and cellular network. These approaches batch the subscribers who request for the same contents, and offer one channel to a certain amount of subscribers at one time. The selection logs on the contents are collected through the cellular network. The simulation results demonstrate that, compared with the one-to-one streaming approach, much higher capacity can be achieved by these batching approaches, with much lower average waiting time and much cheaper price. Moreover, better performance can be obtained with the threshold batching approach.
