Abstract
Summary from only given. A comprehensive study of the optimization of pulse compression by high order stimulated Raman scattering (HSRS) is presented using dispersion control of the waveguide for various Raman media. As a result we show, e.g., for SF/sub 6/ that blue-shifted pulses with duration of 1.7 fs can be generated. In the method for the compression of single pulses by HSRS an intense short pump pulse is used.
