  • Abstract
Summary from only given. We have demonstrated the ability to generate complex optical waveforms over an 200 ps temporal window by double-passing an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) with a femtosecond input pulse. Equivalently, two identical AWG´s could be interconnected back-to-back to generate the same functionality in transmission. These investigations provide important insight into the operation of integrated-optic pulse shapers based on AWG devices and shows promise for manipulating ultrafast optical waveforms via hybrid WDM/TDM optical processing.
