Abstract :
The stability study of a cyclic rate, sampled-data, stirred-tank chemical reactor system with a PID control using a parameter plane method is considered. Based on two related stability equations and using the PID gains as the adjustable parameters, the set of all possible PID gains to maintain the chemical reactor system´s stability is determined. The effects on its stability by changing the basic sampling period T, the number of intersamples (i.e., samples between kT and (k+1)T, where k is any positive integer) taken by the cyclic-rate sampler, and time instants the intersamples taken are also examined
