Abstract :
Summary from only given. We present a promising approach to scaling the power of modelocked lasers by operating them quasi-cw. This could match the pulse repetition rate requirements of many applications. Active stabilisation is then deployed to minimise the time taken to reach a steady cw state. An intracavity acousto-optic Q-switch was used to modulate the laser loss in response to laser spiking.
