Abstract :
To develop and optimize modern radar, it is necessary to carry on very intensive tests using both simulated and recorded raw data. The progress in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, especially the increase of capacity and speed of cheap hard discs equipped with IDE ULTRA ATA 66 or 100 interface, make it possible to build very cheap and versatile high speed data recorders. The paper presents a simple and universal recorder design for raw radar data recording in ARS-400 maritime patrol radar. The idea of the cheap recorder as well as the recorder itself can be easily adapted to almost any kind of radar, speeding up the development and test state of the radar
