Abstract
A high-performance XML engine suitable for resource- constrained computers has been proposed. The hardware engine features the programmable hierarchical Aho-Corasick Machine (PH-ACM), which achieves a quantum leap in the performance as well as the easy interface expandability. The high performance is obtained through its hardware-mapped hierarchical pipeline structure, and the expandability is enabled by its table-replacing architecture. Based on the simulation results, the PH-ACM approach demonstrated a large speed up more than 2000x versus the software approach on the processing of message using XML/SOAP. Also the interface expansion was performed very quickly requiring time less than 2 ms.
