Abstract :
Summary from only given. KTiOPO/sub 4/ (KTP) crystal is an excellent nonlinear material since it has large nonlinear coefficients and high damage threshold. Furthermore, KTP crystal can be used for 90/spl deg/-phase-matched sum frequency generation (SFG) from 1.32 /spl mu/m and 0.66 /spl mu/m to 0.44 /spl mu/m. This is the key to blue-light generation from a Nd:YAG laser since one can combine quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic generation (QPM SHG) and SFG in one crystal to achieve third-harmonic generation (THG).
