Abstract
A generalized dyadic Green´s function in the spectral domain for multi-layer dielectric structures is derived directly from Maxwell´s equations. The waves traveling in the z direction are decomposed into TM and TE wave representations, which enables one to use signal flow graphs to obtain the electric and magnetic fields at any point of interest in the structure. The concepts of total and partial layer removal are introduced. The application of this Green´s function to the analysis of microstrip transmission lines is given
