Abstract :
BGP is the de-facto inter-domain routing protocol, while many problems remained; especially BGP doesn´t take into account e2e performance of an inter-domain route during its route decision process. In order to study the performance of inter-domain route, an AS-level network performance representation (Matrix based Network Performance Representation, MNPR) is proposed, in which the performance of an AS is modeled as a performance matrix. Based on the representation, a performance-aware inter-domain routing protocol (PIRP) is proposed. Its basic idea, scalability, route model and implementation details are discussed. Analysis and simulation shows that comparing with BGP, PIRP achieves inter-domain route with better performance, and effectively reduce routing table size and route convergence time.
