  • Abstract
    In this paper, we propose reverse link transmission (both traffic and pilot) to be gated 50% of the time for 1/8 rate speech transmission and show that significant talk time and reverse link capacity improvement can be achieved out of this gating scheme in cdma2000. The position and duration of the gating periods have a significant effect on the performance. The optimal scheme is discussed, and analyzed as well
