  • Abstract
Summary from only given. We propose novel guided-wave electrooptic single sideband (SSB) modulators consisting of a pair of traveling-wave electrodes and a Mach-Zehnder waveguide. Adopting the periodically domain-inverted structure with a spatial shift to LiNbO/sub 3/ or LiTaO/sub 3/ traveling-wave modulators, the modulation phase and the modulation index can be controlled arbitrary so that the SSB modulation characteristics are obtained with one microwave modulation signal and a DC bias signal.
