Abstract
This paper proposes a procedure of link design on MIMO cellular systems. Our approach is based on the channel capacity. We derive the capacity of single-user downlink channel which taking into account path loss, shadow fading, and Rayleigh fading. Based on the channel capacity, we give the relation between the area coverage and the reference CNR related to the margins into the radio link. With these relations, we determine the required transmission power to fulfill a service quality.
