Abstract
In this paper a vehicle detection algorithm is presented based on the combination of edge feature and random walk techniques. We used background subtraction and edge detection to obtain the moving area, then used morphological operations for vehicle skeleton extraction and get the seed for random walk. Our algorithm has three phases, detection of areas on moving objects, extraction of skeleton points on the moving area, finally segmentation of moving vehicles. The experimental results show that this approach works well in highway and urban area with high accuracy.
