Abstract :
In this paper, hybrid FEM/BIE is firstly applied into scattering from conducting rough surface. Boundary integral equation (BIE) is used as the termination condition for the unbounded computation space, while the finite element method (FEM) is used to solve the governing equation in the region surrounded by the rough surface and the artificial boundary. Tapered wave incidence is employed to cancel the so called “edge effect”. Hybrid FEM/BIE formulation for generalised one dimensional conducting rough surface scattering is presented, as well as examples that evaluates its validity by comparing with MOM. Bistatic scattering coefficient of Gaussian rough surface are calculated, for TM case. Conclusions are achieved after analysing scattering from rough surface with different rms height and correlation length.
