Abstract
Summary form only given. Ferroelectric pyroelectric-based optical detectors are presently used for a variety of applications including high-accuracy laser power measurements we have applied domain-engineering techniques to a LiTaO/sub 3/ plate, to create a NIST pyroelectric radiometer having low acoustic sensitivity, and built other domain-engineered detectors with acoustic sensitivity. Our present challenge is to build a pyroelectric detector having the lowest possible noise equivalent power (NEP) (limited only by the physical aspect ratio of the detector crystal), that is insensitive to ambient acoustic noise.
