Abstract
Summary from only given. We report that the optical fiber transmission around 1.39 /spl mu/m is affected by rapid OH diffusion in tapering process, conventionally used in fabrication of fused fiber WDM devices. In tapering process, fiber is heated by a microtorch and is longitudinally elongated by a motorized translation system.
