Abstract
Due to the complexity of some algorithms for maneuvering target tracking, an adaptive α-β tracking filter in a mixed coordinate system to track a maneuvering target is introduced. Because the position of constant velocity targets is no longer a linear function of time in a polar system, the pseudo-acceleration is introduced which result in the expense of complexity for α-β tracking filters. In this paper the target model and prediction are given in a rectangular coordinate system, and an adaptive α-β tracking filter is completed in a polar system. The simulation results show that this algorithm requires much lower computational load than the common algorithms such as the IE, VD, and IMM algorithms, while yielding the same accuracy as those
