Abstract :
The mircocavity sensor using metamaterials is proposed, and the sensor operates at whispering-gallery mode (WGM). Base on finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, we calculate the quality factor and resonant frequency spectrum of the metamaterial-assisted microcavity (MAM) sensor. Results show that MAM possesses much higher quality factor than the conventional microcavity, and MAM sensor is more sensitive to the dielectric environment than the conventional microcavity sensor.
