  • Abstract
In this paper, the crosstalk effects in future very large-scale integration (VLSI) interconnects based on multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are investigated with the equivalent single conductor (ESC) model and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) solution of transmission line equations. The worst-case time delay and the peak crosstalk voltage on the victim wire of MWCNT interconnects are derived and compared to the copper wire counterparts for the intermediate interconnects with lengths of 10 ~ 1000 μm at 22 nm and 14 nm technology nodes. The numerical results represent that the advantages of time delay for MWCNT interconnects are more obvious for longer wire lengths and smaller technology nodes. While MWCNT interconnects have little improvement in the crosstalk-induced noises compared to their Cu counterparts.
