Abstract
The limited bandwidth and low power energy are the most attractive factors in wireless mobile environments. Caching can reduce expensive data transfers and improve the performance of mobile computing. Using the character of mobile agent, autonomy, social ability, reactivity, pro-activity, the improved framework of cache based on mobile agent in mobile computing is presented. Enlightened by the behaviors of gregarious ant colonies, each ant is treated as a mobile agent to present a mobile client. The proposed fitness function according to the ant colony model can tell the state of the mobile agent. How the mobile agent is applied in the cache of mobile computing is explained in detail and the principle of work is laid out elaborately. Finally, an example is used to prove this strategy is able to guarantee the consistency of data in the server and the cache content, avoid the consequence of missing reports, reduce the bandwidth requirement and minimize the energy consumption of mobile clients.
