Abstract :
Summary form only given. We investigated efficient phase conjugating mirrors (PCMs) with short fiber lengths of only a few meters. One successful method was the tapered fiber were the fiber geometry was optimized for the SBS process. To reduce the SBS threshold further we examined SBS in multimode fiber amplifiers. The examined fiber was a double core ytterbium doped fiber.
