Abstract :
Cellular phones and broadband Internet have achieved large degree of accessibility in which users are connected anytime and anywhere. It is desired to create context-aware services best suited for a specific time, place and opportunity to a target user across the boundaries of the virtual and real world, making use of such accessibility. Towards realizing a platform to build such services, we are researching in the Ubiquitous Service Platform project funded by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan. This project is named as “CUBIQ” project (http://www.cubiq.jp/en/), and consists of 9 organizations (6 companies and 3 universities). In this talk, I will introduce the issues and challenges in CUBIQ project, especially focused on one of the approaches in CUBIQ project to build context-aware services by using resource-oriented interfaces.
