Abstract
A fast transient recovery device (FTRD), which is used to improve transient response of switching dc-dc converters to meet fast load variation, is presented in this paper. During transient, it provides additional injected or drained current with high current slew rate, and fast transient response can thus be obtained. To illustrate its operation principle, FTRD is applied to a buck converter with conventional voltage-mode pulse width modulation (PWM). Experimental results show that the buck converter with the proposed FTRD achieves much faster transient response.
