  • Abstract
This presentation will introduce our researches and developments on new generation network (NwGN). The NICT of Japan has been promoting an AKARI architecture design project. Our project aims to design NwGN architecture and develop technologies required for NwGN based on the architecture. Our philosophy is to pursue an ideal solution by researching new network architecture from a clean slate without being impeded by existing constraints. Once the new network architecture is designed, we will consider the issue of migration from today´s conditions. Our goal is to create an overarching design of what the entire future network should be. To accomplish this vision of a future network embedded as a part of societal infrastructures, each fundamental technology or sub-architecture must be selected and the overall design must be simplified through integration. In this presentation, firstly, motivation and objectives of our researches and developments on NwGN will be explained. Next, several fundamental technologies for NwGN including ID/locator split, hierarchical automatic number allocation, network virtualization, wireless and sensor platform, optical integrated packet and circuit network, layering, etc, will be introduced.
