Author_Institution :

Abstract :
We examine the implementation of telecom services, from switch-based implementation to Internet-based implementation, and beyond. A “telecom service” is a software system that allows end consumers of the service to communicate at a distance, such as telephony or teleconferencing. We overview the technology behind each form of service implementation and examine the forces and technological issues driving new forms of implementation
