Abstract :
This presentation describes achievements in turbogenerator technology and gives an outlook into a dynamic future. Turbine evolution in a competitive environment has always been driving generator development. The race in gigawatt unit rating is history. The field of competition with independent designs has narrowed. The paper discusses cooling design, electrical design, mechanical design, insulation, magnetic materials, packaging, efficiency, monitoring, operation and maintenance.
