Abstract :
Network-wide optimization of transmit power with the goal of maximizing the total throughput in horizontal-spectrum-sharing cognitive radio, promises significant system capacity gains. Finding the sub-optimal distributed solutions to the problem, however, remains a challenging and stringent task. In this paper, we first focus on the weighted sum-rate maximization problem for two links with different power constraints. For the situation of two links, we use the optimization theory to obtain the analytical solution. However, computing the optimal solution is neither necessary nor possible in large scale network. We thus develop a partly distributed power allocation algorithm based on the analytical solution for the case of two links and the non-local information of the network. Lastly, we show the performance gains of the proposed method in some special scenarios.
