Abstract :
Distributed control systems (DCS) have been widely used in chemical and petrochemical processes. DCS are one of the most powerful platform to implement advanced control algorithms that can improve productivity significantly. However, the use of advanced control algorithms in DCS introduces hazards as well as benefits. In this work, a case study of hazard analysis is described especially for this kind of continuous control systems. The usefulness of applying hazard analysis to design and implementation of safe advanced control algorithm in DCS is shown
