Abstract
Two electrically small antenna designs are analyzed numerically and are then compared. The first is a frequency-agile version of the three-dimensional (3D) Egyptian-axe dipole (EAD) antenna. The second is its two-dimensional (2D) planar counterpart. The frequency-agile performance characteristics of both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional Egyptian-axe dipole designs are studied and compared. Their potential for non-Foster augmentation to achieve large instantaneous fractional bandwidths is detailed.
