Abstract :
We define and investigate the direct product of convolutional codes. Properties of generator and parity check matrices are considered. Free distance of a product convolutional code is estimated using both, active distances and the suggested concept of "block distances" of convolutional component codes. We show that every product convolutional code can be represented as a woven code
