Abstract :
A novel single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) which employs three winding in series connection with two capacitors is presented. This paper describes the design of the novel PMSM based on the parameters of the three-phase PMSM with same output power. Performance equations are derived using the method of symmetrical components and equivalent circuit for this motor is proposed to predict the steady state performance of this machine. The steady-state analysis indicated the PMSM has the advantages of higher efficiency, smaller volume and better symmetry.
