  • Abstract
Summary form only given. A front-end system based on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) has been developed for the PW glass laser system. Broadband and high-gain properties of the OPCPA were experimentally demonstrated. The front-end system provided a pulse energy of 20 mJ. The peak wavelength, spectral width, and pulse width are 1.053-/spl mu/m, over 6 nm and 3 ns, respectively. An output energy of more than 1 kJ at the exit of the main amplifier has been obtained by injecting the output from the front-end system into the main amplifier chain.
