Abstract :
Since P2P flows tend to occupy too much Internet traffic, it is vital to control most of P2P flows within a LAN. One of solutions is CDN-liked approach which some CDN-liked servers are placed in LANs which are working as P2P agencies. The servers will involve in the P2P communication, while the peers will look for the data from the servers. In this article, we discuss how much such a method can save the inter-network traffic for a LAN, which means how much data will download form outside of the LAN. Assume the peers can find the nearest peers by certain mechanism, such as P4P. We find that the CDN approach can not save the bandwidth so much, comparing with some simplest downloading strategies used in P2P applications. Obviously, to fulfill the assumption is more valuable.
