Abstract :
The modeling of fuzziness in geotechnical problems is addressed using the finite element method and the theory of fuzzy sets. The operations on fuzzy numbers are introduced in the formulation of finite element calculations. Fuzzy finite element solutions are presented with lower and upper bounds or possibility distributions. These possibility distributions are investigated using fuzzy entropies. The fuzzy measure is also applied to introduce an estimate of uncertainty propagation in the fuzzy geotechnical system
